SUMMARY:Live Classic Rock by Above the Fray
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the tasting room for live classic rock by Above the Fray duo. This free classic rock concert is paired with authentic Puerto Rican Delights from 5-star rated Agueybana El Bravo food truck on August 5th. Food service will begin at 1:00 pm and music will begin at 2:00 pm. \n\n\n\nAbove the Fray Duo consists of Dennis and Kat Calfee who are from Bassett Virginia. With Dennis on guitar and Kat on vocals\, you will enjoy blues\, classic rock and Americana tunes from this duo. Kat has amazing range\, and you can hear traces of Janis Joplin\, Stevie Nicks\, Etta James\, and others as she belts out the blues and rock songs. Dennis has the ‘down home’ quality in his singing and playing that tends to encourage the audience to sing along. They never seem to disappoint when they perform. this live classic rock concert will be from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. \n\n\n\nAgueybana El Bravo This Puerto Rican food truck making its mark in the Triad. Known for it’s authentic Puerto Rican Delights it has a 5-star rating from its customers on FaceBook. Enjoy hearty meats paired with plantains and empanadillas. \n\n\n\nAs described in a Journal Now article\, Arturo Vega started Agueybano El Bravo in 2021 as a part-time food truck. Agueybana is doing steady business pretty much every weekend. Though Vega is the owner\, Agueybano is very much a family affair. “This is a family business. My wife and daughters all help out\,” Vega said. His wife\, Alia Andujar\, does much of the advance prep work. She gets help from daughters Yari Rodriguez\, 18; Leila Vega\, 15; and Kayla Vega\, 14. All of them also help out on the truck itself while it is out and about on weekends. \n\n\n\nWe will be serving up the wine and beer to compliment the lively tunes and food! Check out our current selection of wines. Eddie will treat us to Americana music (also known as American Roots music) in the tasting room. This amalgam of American music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States has something to get everyone up and dancing to a great mix of blues\, jazz\, rock and gospel.\n\nSign up for B2Z Designs art class where Nicki will conduct a barn quilt tray class from 2:00 to 5:00 in the barrel room downstairs. This beautiful centerpiece will brighten your farmhouse or dining room! Choose from 3 designs. Registration is directly with the artist and cost is $60 for supplies and instruction.\n\nHungry and thirsty? We will be serving up great food from Second Helpings Food Truck from 1:00 until 5:00. Second Helpings N.C. is an energetic\, innovative\, small family-owned mobile food business. They serve a distinct brand of freshly-prepared Southern cooked meals using natural and homemade ingredients passed down from generation to generation. You will love their fried fish or chicken baskets and can check out their full menu to get your mouth watering! Sweet Potato Pie\, anyone?\n\nOf course\, we will be serving up vino and beer to make your day complete. We are currently featuring local beers from Red Oak (both Amber and Hummingbird)\, Pernicious IPA\, and Foothills Jade IPA as well as Truly Seltzers. We also have the classic beers to pair with Second Helping’s delicious food\, as well as our selection of wines. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Live Bluegrass Music by Jeff Wall\, The Big Dumb Hick\, on Saturday\, August 26th from 2:00 to 5:00. \n\n\n\nSinger-Songwriter\, Storyteller\, and occasional comedian Jeff Wall\, will be performing live music in the the Gioia dell’Amore tasting room. Hailing from the Winston-Salem/Triad region of North Carolina\, at 6’7”\, and somewhere around 350lbs\, he’s not just big\, he is damned big. Known as “The Big Dumb Hick”\, Jeff is usually found wearing Round-House bib-overalls\, if anything at all\, he is a cigar-smoking\, wise-cracking\, bad-ass acoustic guitar-slinger\, and a hilarious entertainer to boot. \n\n\n\nWe are currently looking for a food truck for this event. In the event we are not able to book a food truck\, we will be serving up our charcuterie trays and great snacks in the tasting room. Our wine and beer menu can be viewed online so you can pick your favorite libation prior to coming out on August 26th. \n\n\n\nJeff Wall – “The Big Dumb Hick”: The Bigdumbhick is Jeff Wall\, a 6’7″\, 350lb\, bib-overall wearing\, acoustic singer/songwriter/storyteller from the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina. With a background in Bluegrass and Honky-Tonk music\, he is endowed with a sardonic wit and a piston-like right hand. His music\, which has been described as “humor with a groove” will have an audience in tears from laughter one minute. and then he will play a deeply personal & revealing song exposing that soft\, vulnerable part that we all try to keep hidden. He’s most certainly Big\, but he’s not Dumb at all.
